Chinese elm displays excellent resistance to dutch elm disease and elm leaf beetle. Elms have been common street trees in cities for over a century, owing to their grandiose vase-like structure and providing an abundance of shade. Chinese elms in particular are unique in their showy orange-brown bark. Only low to moderate drought tolerance.
